Why Skape

Saltwater aquarium reefing for 12 year's taught many lessons. The first being not everything in this hobby fits every aquarium. There are however steps you may choose that can help with your own success. We passionately believe reef aquarium reefscaping is step one to fast success.

No matter what material you choose for your reefscape the principles outlined here should help you save money and have more fun with the saltwater aquarium hobby.

Waste or debris of any kind.

Waste traps are the fast way to ugly algae unsightly slime and you spending money trying to fix issues. LOTS OF MONEY.

Textures and shapes matter!

Bacteria

Microscopic single-celled MONSTER.

Yes, we need the good little single-celled monster for all aquariums to cycle properly. You will read and hear about live rock, or how to make dry rock live and you need X amount to support bacteria.

In modern reefing this is super easy. The big question you may have is how much reef rock do I need? Honestly not that much. We ask why even use reef rock when biologic loads can be handled in a sump which leaves the aquarium free to Skape

Movement to and fro or around something, especially that of fluid in a closed system

Let's face it, the more solid an object is the more it restricts circulation. In a closed loop system, we need positive amounts of water movement to export detritus and circulate nutrients.

Textures and shapes have a direct impact on saltwater reef aquarium water circulation.
